Sheriff Paul Brown rejected a plea to give Huggan a community-based sentence because she is the mother of three young children.

A nightclub attacker who left her victim with a nine-inch scar across her neck has been jailed for nine months.

She then knocked a second woman to the floor by punching her in the head, and punched her again while she was on the ground. Top news stories today Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Ms Irvine was "traumatised" and left feeling self-conscious about the lengthy scar on her neck and jaw. Huggan, Ness Drive, Arbroath, admitted assaulting Ms Irvine to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement by hitting her with a bottle. She further admitted assaulting Ms Mullen to her injury.

"They had been dancing, consuming more drinks and chatting. The witnesses observed the accused sitting in a booth by the bar. Security staff intervened and as they compressed the neck wound, an ambulance was called and passing police were flagged down. Ms Allan said: "At around 2.30am, ambulance staff arrived. They observed a 10-to-12-inch cut to the left side of the victim's neck. It ran from the midline of her jaw to the collarbone.The victim suffered pain to the back of the head where she had been struck with the bottle, black eyes, and was left permanently disfigured.
