A police officer who subjected his partner to a campaign of domestic abuse for nearly a year has been allowed to walk free from court without being punished

But Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown did not impose any punishment on Caulfield after noting he had stayed out of trouble for around two years since the abuse. Caulfield, from Dundee, ignored his former girlfriend's pleas to leave her alone and refused to take no for an answer when she told him their relationship was at an end.The shamed officer had originally faced a charge of abusing her for two years including striking her with a door, grabbing her and trying to pull her off a bed.
The cyber-crime specialist admitted warning her friend Andrew Thomson to stop contacting her and accepted he had an unwanted card delivered to her home in the city.
