The iconic Mystery Inc. team from Scooby-Doo get a Walking Dead makeover in a twisted cosplay. Scooby-Doo has been one of the most iconic kids series since its creation in 1969.
However, several adaptations have brought its horror themes to the fore. The show has gained a massive adult fanbase for its clever writing and wholesome characters, as well as a healthy dose of nostalgia. It made sense, then, that in 2016, DC launched Scooby Apocalypse - a 36-issue series in which the franchise's characters fight to survive a supernatural Armageddon.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Instagram user thefanged4 recently took to the site to show off an incredible photoshoot, with Mystery Inc. taking on the zombie apocalypse. This homage to the iconic action-horror comic Scooby Apocalypse by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, Howard Porter, Dale Eaglesham, Ron Wagner, Jan Duursema and Andy Owens features the gang up against the undead.
Scooby Apocalypse Took a Huge Swing with the Franchise Scooby Apocalypse focused on a version of the gang as a nanite virus plagued the Earth, turning anyone that comes in contact with the intial outbreak into monsters called Beasties. This series gave older fans a glimpse at what a more adult-oriented story centered around Mystery Inc. could be like, as it amped up the horror and drama.
The horror themes from Scooby-Doo give it lots of potential for exploration in more twisted story ideas, and fans often taken the lead on this . However, DC's Scooby Apocalypse made those dreams a reality, and is worth both a reread and even a rebirth, as proved by this awesome cosplay shoot which tickles the desire to see Scooby-Doo plunged into real, Walking Dead-style horror.
