More than 140 scientists funded by the Chan Zuckerberg initiative publicly called on Facebook to tighten its policies on “misinformation and incendiary language,” joining staff anger at CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s inaction on a post by President Trump that threatened violence towards anti-racism protesters.to Zuckerberg on Saturday, in response to the company’s decision not to take down President Trump’s post to protesters on Monday that read: “When the shooting starts, the looting starts”.

The group expressed deep concern and accused Facebook of “not following their own policies” when it comes to Trump, who has “used the Facebook platform to spread both misinformation and incendiary statements,” they wrote.
