This walk is based on a route created by South Ribble Borough Council
After a couple of weeks of walks which were chosen with a focus on the summer holidays, we're heading back to more normal style for this week's route.
Based on a walk drawn up by South Ribble Borough Council, this week's walk takes us to the ancient village of Hutton - which you can read more about here - and into the peaceful countryside with a scenic riverside stretch. The route covers seven miles, passing around Longton and largely set away from busy roads.
The starting point, Hutton Village Hall, is very close to the very popular Latham's bakery which is perfect for anyone looking for a tasty snack for the walk. Near the end of the route, we've detoured for a stop at the Ram's Head - a pub based in the heart of Longton village. The pub has a separate bar and restaurant area to suit for whatever you're fancying on the day, with the former showing live TNT Sports and Sky Sports.
This walk should take approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete and the majority of it takes place on reasonable footpaths with no significant inclines involved. As much of the walk takes place near water extra care should be taken, while it should be noted that some of the footpaths are subject to waterlogging during periods of prolonged rain.
