Evette Conway – a mother whose son, Michael Preston Jr., died in a botched robbery in 2021 – stood in court Monday and demanded answers from the two men who pleaded guilty to killing him.

Two teenagers also pleaded guilty on Monday. Tyler Johnson and Derrick Allison, both 17, entered pleas to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery.Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Eben McNair told Common Pleas Court Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams that the group schemed up the robbery plot and lured Preston to East 117th Street and Buckeye Road by pretending to want to buy drugs from him.“Rather than give him a chance to defend himself, they decided to kill him,” McNair said.
Johnson is Hamilton’s half-brother, McNair said. Claxton met Allison at a halfway house while serving a sentence on another case, he saidConway and Latia Lambert, Preston’s sister, told the men that they killed Preston, left his family in pain and damaged their own lives and those of their families.Lambert told the men that said they didn’t even get any money off her brother.
