After the first round of budget talks on Monday, Saskatoon's city council is still eyeing a higher tax hike that will ultimately be determined over the next day or two

Asked by members of council how her organization’s stance on tax hikes squares with a request earlier this year for $15,000 in additional funding from the city, Clovechok said Discover Saskatoon’s activities marketing Saskatoon as an event destination ultimately generate revenue and economic activity for the city.
Hack said council always has the option to direct staff to find a new model to operate the city-owned gallery building, but suggested that under the current arrangement, the city’s support for the gallery is likely to increase in line with inflation and other pressures.Article content City staff recommended that the housing reserve get $750,000 annually from the mill rate; it currently receives $350,000. A report to council advised them to raise the mill rate contribution to the reserve by $100,000 each year until it reaches the target. In the interim, they suggested making up the difference using a combination of RCE and NLDF funding.Article content
Council also added for consideration a Gough motion to take $245,000 from the RCE to fund a capital project to develop a new housing strategy for the city.
