A Safety Coalition, he said, would enhance the industry’s long-established Safety Bulletins, focus on prevention, and hold those responsible accountable. “The Safety Bulletins are in place, and they should be adhered to – those and common sense and respect for human life. But the guilds also need to hold people responsible if they are convicted of a criminal act while doing their jobs. I think expulsion is appropriate. It needs to be strong enough to deter the actions to start with.
“If Safety Bulletin #28, “Guidelines for Railroad Safety”, had been attached to the call sheet, discussed in safety meetings, and followed, my daughter – Sarah Jones — would still be alive.“If safety protocols are ignored, there should be consequences so that the violator does not move on to yet another production only to put other crew members’ safety in jeopardy.
“To avert an on-set accident, crew members must sometimes stand up to a producer, demand change and explain to them why the decisions made by the production company will put their crew in grave danger.
