Authorities early Friday identified a woman who died in a three-car crash on Highway 4 in Martinez.
The California Highway Patrol pronounced 44-year-old Kellye Van Patten, of San Jose, dead at the scene following the 4:15 a.m. crash Wednesday. According to the CHP,The Ford hit the center divide, then came to a rest in a lane. Two SUV’s subsequently collided with it, the CHP said. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office publicly identified Van Patten. She was the second person to die this year in a fatal crash on the highway.
A year ago, 15 fatal crashes resulted in 19 deaths on Highway 4. In 2021, 15 fatal crashes killed 16 people.Related Articles
