UPDATE: San Jose illegal sideshows result in multiple arrests, vehicle impounds and several spectator citations, SJPD says.
At least three people were arrested for evading police, and one was arrested for a felony warrant, police said. In addition, 21 others were cited as spectators to the illegal sideshows.
Three vehicles were impounded for 30 days, with tow fees ranging between $3,000 and $4,000, police said. Video shows drivers and spectators in one illegal sideshow at Lundy Avenue and Concourse Drive around 7:20 p.m. before they moved on to multiple other spots throughout the city.Sign up for NBC Bay Area’s Housing Deconstructed newsletter.
San Jose police showed up to some of the locations to break up the crowd, and at one point, a fire truck was caught in the chaos. Video footage of another sideshow taking place in the area of Curtner Avenue and Almaden Expressway at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday shows police issuing citations.
