San Francisco is set to become the first major US city to ban e-cigarettes
were vaping in 2018, up from 3.6 million the year before. CDC Director Robert R. Redfield said when the study released that the country must help keep kids safe from a preventable health risk.
San Francisco's proposed ordinance expands on a 2014 measure which banned the sale of such devices where the sales of traditional tobacco products are already prohibited. "But the prohibition of vapor products for all adults in San Francisco will not effectively address underage use and will leave cigarettes on shelves as the only choice for adult smokers, even though they kill 40,000 Californians every year," said Juul spokesman Ted Kwong.
