“There are chances of rain every day, whether or not it’s a lot of rain, that’s the question,” said Emily Heller, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New Braunfels. The National Weather Service predicts a tenth of an inch of rain this weekend before rain chances increase early to mid next week. Ahead of a cold front on Wednesday, San Antonio has a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain. Last year was San Antonio’s second driest in recorded history with just 11.5 inches of rain — only 1917 was drier with 10.11 inches. Meteorologists and climatologists expect San Antonio’s precipitation levels to return to their more typical average of about 31 inches in 2023, thanks to the expected end of the weather pattern known as la Niña.
Cloudy and milder into Saturday with spotty light showers and/or drizzle across eastern areas. A cold front arrives on Sunday with additional shower/storm chances toward the east. A cooler, cloudy and wet pattern develops behind this front from early to middle of next week.
