The front door of a Middle Eastern restaurant in a largely Jewish area was smashed over the weekend
, after a Kosher restaurant in north London was vandalised in an apparent antisemitic attack following the outbreak of war in Israel.
She told a conference fringe event: “To see scenes on British streets of people apparently celebrating terrorist attacks is just truly appalling and we can never allow those who want to seize on events to pursue antisemitic agendas, to pursue hatred… we can never allow that to take place here in the UK.
The Met said Londoners “will see more police officers on the streets across the capital to reassure and protect communities” and “as part of our increased policing patrols across key areas of London, we have been in touch with synagogues, mosques, and businesses to discuss their concerns and provide them with safety advice”.
“I expect the police to use the full force of the law against displays of support for Hamas, other proscribed terrorist groups or attempts to intimidate British Jews.”
