A Colusa roadhouse lost its liquor license after a patron — a 17-year-old boy — was killed when he fell from his stepfather’s pickup truck as they were driving away.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. on May 19, 2022. The pair, from Montana, had been drinking at Slough House, andindicates the boy had 10 drinks in the course of 90 minutes, ending with three shots in quick succession. He then got in a confrontation with a bartender, who slapped him and helped him walk to the parking lot and get in the pickup truck.
The stepfather, a 65-year-old man from Whitefish, Mont., was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. His blood alcohol level was 0.20%, an initial report said. He pleaded not guilty to felony child endangerment and misdemeanor DUI in a case that is ongoing.
