When kittens are abandoned near shelters instead of surrendered in person, they can fall victim to any number of dangers, including dehydration and starvation. Administrative staff, vet techs, live release team members, one of our trainers — so many people helped care for these little ones that morning. Our on-site partners, San Antonio Pets Alive!, took them into their care and quickly found a foster home for the aptly named Tangerine, Carrot, Yams and Squash.Some might say saving four kittens is a blip when there are still healthy pets that don’t make it.

We’re all trying to help as many pets as we can. We may be taking different roads to do it, but even small steps get us — and the pets we’re trying to save — home.
