Michigan State coach Mel Tucker is facing some serious allegations.
Mel Tucker, one of the highest-paid coaches in college football who has led the Spartans since 2020, is facing serious allegations that will likely lead to his firing in the coming days or weeks.
“Ms. Tracy’s distortion of our mutually consensual and intimate relationship into allegations of sexual exploitation has really affected me,” Tucker wrote in a March 22 letter to the investigator. “I am not proud of my judgment and I am having difficulty forgiving myself for getting into this situation, but I did not engage in misconduct by any definition.”
Tucker said they had acknowledged their mutual desire for a romance but agreed it would be “too messy” because of his marriage and the physical distance between them. Once, Tucker called Tracy via FaceTime. He was in bed, shirtless. He talked about his unhappy marriage, describing himself as “more or less single.” Then, during a Nov. 9, 2021, call, she said he asked her, “If I wasn’t a football coach and if I wasn’t married, would you date me?”
A hearing to decide whether Tucker violated Michigan State’s policy banning sexual harassment and exploitation is slated for Oct. 5 and 6, according to USA Today, a period that coincides with MSU football’s bye week.
