Rutgers' wide receiver room got faster on Friday when Greg Schiano accepted a pledge from North Carolina speedster Isaiah Crumpler on Friday.
Crumpler is fast, physical, has good hands, and plans to help, and classmate-slash-quarterback A.J. Surace, keep Rutgers’ cannon operator busy in years to come. Schiano offered Crumpler during a phone conversation, flanked by assistant offensive line coach Scott Vallone, on Feb. 23, which spurred a trip for Crumpler to the Hale Center on March 4.
Isaiah’s father, Carlester, played at East Carolina University where he sits in the Hall of Fame after accumulating almost 3,000 receiving yards as a tight end before embarking on a six-year NFL career. He played five years with the Seattle Seahawks and one with the Minnesota Vikings before hanging up the cleats. Isaiah is also the nephew of long-time NFL tight end Alge Crumpler, who spent 12 years in the league. The two brothers stand over 6-foot-5 and weigh more than 260 pounds apiece.
Crumpler is Rutgers’ first scholarship football player to hail from The Tar Heel State since Schiano returned to Rutgers in Dec. 2019, as Rutgers expands its footprint in the Southeast. Crumpler is Rutgers’ fifth pledge in 20 days as the Knights approach a top-30 class for 2024, which features eight recruits and entered Friday ranked 33rd nationally byCrumpler will officially visit Rutgers, which he picked over Duke, East Carolina and others, on June 2. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds, a 4.06-second shuttle, and 100-meters in 11.06 seconds.

The bill also would create new exceptions to the ban but also more requirements for pregnant women and physicians. The full House vote for the measure took place late Wednesday. The Senate has a vote scheduled for Thursday morning. Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper has vowed to veto the measure, calling it an 'extreme ban.' Republicans now hold veto-proof majorities in both chambers, however. GOP legislators and allies say the measure is pro-family and pro-child. It includes funds for things like child care, foster care and contraceptives.
