An altercation is said to have been sparked when the runner, who was leading the 1600m race, told another athlete – who was standing on the track despite not participating in the event – to get out of the way.
The incident started when the alleged attacker stood on the track despite not taking part in the race
Instead of moving aside, the athlete deliberately tried to obstruct the runner on his next lap around the track, prompting the runner to push him over.
