Think of Rossato’s furniture collections as a work of classical, dramatic fiction, set in a grand Venetian house, with ‘la dolce vita’ as protagonist – the attitudes, family values, passions and joys of elegant, Italian life coursing through a handsome and compelling narrative.
Rossato’s designs move between technique and art, intelligence and tactility. Each item is a skillful union of fine finishes and quality materials. The current collection’s ‘Stamford’ bench, for instance, is an exercise in colour play and a textural contrast between soft suede and fluffy cushion upholstery. The wooden body is characterised by a three-dimensional pattern. Thin, beautifully crafted joints support the seat, while the slim satin brass legs add elegance and lightness. The ‘Lauren’ console is crafted from arches reminiscent of majestic, ancient classical architecture.
Established in a Veneto region carpentry shop by Antonio Rossato back in 1969, the company began as Rossato and specialised in bespoke furnishings for private and public spaces such as theatres, museums, shops, hotels, villas, concert halls and cruise ships. From the very beginning, customisation and the ability to work on a global scale was key to the business, which introduced new resources and manufacturing know-how, combining ancient craftsmanship and modern technologies.
