It will be a busy evening in downtown Aurora Friday, with the Roots Aurora festival being held in conjunction with the monthly First Fridays event which will feature more than 30 venues participating.
On Water Street Mall, Roots Aurora will host its annual fundraiser celebrating the city’s many cultures. It will include cultural dance performances, music, live art, children’s activities and more from 5 to 8 p.m.First Fridays will feature a variety of activities. The Food Truck Food Court will return at Water Street Square at 65 S. Water St., from 5 to 9 p.m.
Aurora Historical Society and Aurora Public Art at The David L. Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place, will have the exhibit “Here Comes the Bride” on the first floor. “Citizen Beige,” a Steve Banks solo exhibit featuring contemporary pop art, will continue on the third floor. The building is open from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, will feature a $5 donation show with The League of Erics starting at 8 p.m. Offbeat Thrift & Vintage, 7 N. Broadway, will return with a new space offering curated vintage and secondhand finds from 5 to 9 p.m.Superjumbo Records, 102 E. Galena Blvd., will celebrate its second anniversary until 9 p.m.
