Multiple Bay Area cities hit 90-degree temperatures after a brief heat wave swept over the region Thursday.

On April 27, multiple Bay Area cities hit grueling temperatures. In the North Bay, Santa Rosa reached 90 degrees, while San Rafael rose to 91. On the Peninsula and in the East Bay, both Redwood City and the Livermore Airport recorded a sweltering 90 degrees, weather service meteorologist Roger Gass told SFGATE.

“It was definitely a warm day out there across the region,” Gass said. On Friday, however, Gass said he anticipates that the Bay Area will experience slighter more forgiving weather. “We are expecting lower to middle 80s today compared to upper 80s to 90s from yesterday,” he said, explaining that the interior East Bay valleys and Santa Clara Valley area will likely be the hottest regions throughout the bay. The warm weather spell will likely persist through Saturday, before cooling down by 10 to 15 degrees on Sunday, April 30, he said.
