Rishi Sunak discusses ‘sting’ of racist abuse on Test Match Special after damning cricket report

The Prime Minister, who has spoken before about his experience of racism, also told presenter Jonathan Agnew, how Britain had changed as a country since he was a child.

Mr Sunak stressed it was important to recognise “that there is no place for racism or sexism or anything else in our society and where we find it we should stamp it out”. Mr Sunak, who is the first British-Asian UK Prime Minister, added that the England and Wales Cricket Board was “absolutely committed to fixing all the problems”.

While he refused to comment directly on the incident, Mr Sunak said: “Our country’s made incredible progress in tackling racism. But the job is never done. And that’s why whenever we see it, we must confront it.”
