Rishi Sunak branded HS2 as the “ultimate example of the old consensus” as he confirmed his decision to scrap the high speed rail link to Manchester.
The Prime Minister said he would cancel the rest of the HS2 project and will “re-invest every single penny” equating to £36bn in local transport projects across the North.
