Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were hosting the ITV show on Tuesday but some viewers were not impressed at an interview with Richard McCann, the son of one of Peter Sutcliffe's victims.
Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid returned to the couch on Tuesday morning to present Good Morning Britain. They welcomed guest Richard McCann on to the show to discuss The Long Shadow, the new drama based on Yorkshire serial killer Peter Sutcliffe.
The 67-year-old presenter explained that ITV had avoided calling Sutcliffe the "Yorkshire Ripper" and told the guest: "And that's the last time I'm going to say it here..." as Twitter fans complained. Another viewer added: "Madeley 'yorkshire ripper.... and that's the last time i use that word' #GMB could not be more partridge," as a third quipped: "Pleased to see that Mr McCann wish for Sutcliffe to be referred to by his proper name is being respected here."
ITV's new drama The Long Shadow tells the harrowing true story of the five-year hunt to find Peter William Sutcliffe, who murdered 13 women and attempted to murder seven others between 1975 and 1980.
