Planning officials and councillors at Ribble Valley Borough Council are understandably cautious when it comes to considering applications.
Although some objections had been made by local residents, including one who said a "three storey 70-bed care home is totally inappropriate for this site", permission has been granted with conditions. In a report recommending approval the planning officer said: "The economic, social and environmental benefits to development outweigh the harm resulting in the loss of the existing employment uses/businesses on the site.
Towards the end of 2022 Ribble Valley Borough Council's planning committee was advised to refuse Persimmon Homes' plans to build 99 new houses on land east of Salesbury View in Wilpshire.
