'This is an unorthodox hybrid of comedy set and Ted Talk that surprisingly works', writes JamesMcCarthy97

I am sure all of us have told some lies growing up but how many of us told a lie which ultimately led to having your otherwise healthy appendix removed just so that you could get a day off school?

Having premiered at last year's Dublin Fringe festival and went on to win the prestigious Fishamble New Writing Award, it is easy to see why Tom's show is so relatable.Running on to the stage to the cheers of the audience, Tom begins by detailing aspects of his childhood, his compulsive lying and an unequivocal desire to be loved which ultimately is his rationale for all of his life's actions.

Introducing us to various characters in his life including his therapist, 'Bronagh from Omagh', whom he assumes must be good if she is a therapist working in post-conflict Northern Ireland, we soon see the vulnerable side to Tom and the justification for his actions throughout his life soon become clear.

However, given the title of the show and Tom's admission that he has somewhat of a disassociation with the truth, we are left wondering if any of what he says is true or is it just another big, fat, filthy, disgusting, lie.
