Neal Schon was awesome during the Journey concert at Chase Center in San Francisco, but Journey still couldn’t quite top the performance by the opening act.
Call the concert police, because Toto stole the show from Journey on Thursday night at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The whole arena was abuzz between the two bands’ sets, as you could hear Journey fans muttering in astonishment about how great Toto was onstage and the number of good songs the band delivered in its set. Toto opened the show in relatively recent territory, performing a head-turning take on “Orphan” — from “Toto XIV” — that served as announcement from the stage that this concert might not go the way Journey fans expected. The seven-piece band was in superb form, led by the mighty guitar work of Steve Lukather — Toto’s sole continuous touring member.
