Just as it’s nice, if deluding, to imagine—to hope—that there is some real weight beyond those punches, something more than just a studio movie trying to capitalize on a discourse.is attempting to do, the effort proves breezily winning enough. Banks’s film has an offbeat sense of humor; its rhythms are weird, the volume surprisingly muted for a movie from the director behind twofilms.
