A well-placed Leeds source has toldthat Archer’s price tag is seen as prohibitive and that any potential deal will be hard to do this summer.Daniel Farke’s side have lost Rodrigo Moreno to Qatar this summer, while Patrick Bamford continues to struggle with persistent injury problems.
The young striker is keen to get first-team football after thriving out on loan to Middlesbrough in the second half of last season.The 21-year-old was a similar hit at Preston – scoring seven goals in 20 Championship appearances on loan in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign. Archer is under contract at Aston Villa until June 2027 after penning a bumper new deal last summer .
However, his playing time has been extremely limited since Unai Emery’s arrival – and it is believed the Spaniard is happy to let him move on this summer. Leeds have picked up two points from their opening three Championship games this season following relegation to the second tier last term.
