A 12-year-old boy died after being taken to a local hospital while the driver, his uncle, has been charged with DUI and homicide by DUI. It took place Saturday in Swatara township.

was driving through the Swatara Township neighborhood around 3:40 p.m. with three children in the car, including a 12-year-old boy. He crashed in the 700 block of Keckler Road, right in front of Luksa’s house.Luksa said his wife Nicole was the first one to call 911. She was home alone while he was on his way back from military training and their son was at the home of his grandparents.

By the time her husband arrived home around 4 p.m., everyone from the car had been transported from the scene and Nicole was watching the investigation from inside. In all, Paul said he believes that it took five hours for investigators to clear the scene. Paul was the one home that time, saying he went to check on the person who asked for a flashlight. When he got back, the driver was gone.“People just fly up and down there, I don’t know why,” he said. The area has a street light on the utility pole next to Saturday’s crash scene, which he said lights the area well.

Murlin is charged with felony homicide by DUI, an additional count of DUI, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person. He also was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed. When police asked Murlin how much he’d had to drink he said “obviously too much,” according to court records.
