Police have identified a lone juvenile as the person responsible for posting the images.
There have been many reports around the country and across Pennsylvania in recent years of racial slurs being heard during high school sporting events.“I don’t think anyone who says this or exemplifies this type of behavior actually knows the weight that it carries for other individuals,” Erin Pitts told WPXI.
WPXI reported that additional officers from Kiski and New Kensington will be at Friday’s game to augment security. Valley High Principal Jon Banko said referees for Friday’s game will be told about the incident. He also said he’s talked to Valley players. “It’s too bad that our kids have to deal with this kind of stuff. It’s not fair,” said Banko, “but, in my experience at Valley, our kids are really resilient, and they typically respond in a positive way.”
