Exclusive: Reports of social media misuse at Met Police hit four-year high

Former police officers Deniz Jaffer, left, and Jamie Lewis were jailed for misusing social media through WhatsApp messages officers and staff have been made so far this year – with only a fraction resulting in disciplinary proceedings.

The figures have been released after two former Met officers who shared pictures of murdered sisters Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman were found guilty of gross misconduct.posted crime scene images in a WhatsApp group after the bodies of Ms Henry, 46, and Ms Smallman, 27, were found in north London on June 7 last year.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is investigating, said the image was ‘highly offensive’. The panel, led by an independent legally qualified chair, found all the allegations proven and dismissed PC Chandler.
