The San Francisco Giants are looking to bolster a bullpen that faltered mightily in 2022.
Of course, Giants fans are familiar with Jansen as he pitched for the archrival Los Angeles Dodgers for 12 seasons, amassing 350 saves with a 2.37 ERA while notching three All-Star game selections. But the Giants brass has some familiarity as well: San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler was the Dodgers' director of player development from 2014-2017 and Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi was LA's general manager from 2014-2018.
Jansen would provide some much-needed firepower to a bullpen that ranked in the bottom 10 last season after a stellar 2021, resulting in the bullpen ERA ballooning from 2.99 in 2021 to 4.08 in 2022. The team and fans also witnessed a after being pulled by Kapler, an incident that resulted in Littell being sent to the minors the next day.
