Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, who has struggled this season, had a procedure done on his throwing shoulder, per report.
Through five games, Wilson has 1,254 passing yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions for the 2-3 Broncos. He’s completed just 59.4% of his passes and has a 82.8 passer rating -- both on pace for career lows. Denver’s offense is near the bottom of the league in points per game.
The Broncos acquired Wilson in March from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for multiple first-round picks. Denver then signed Wilson to a massive five-year, $245 million extension in September. The positive news for the Broncos is Wilson does intend to play through his shoulder ailment. The Broncos have a few extra days before their next game on Oct. 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The belief is the injection, coupled with rest and treatment will be enough for Wilson to be on the field for Denver in Week 6 and beyond.
