It is believed a new contract is 'close' and for Simon Donnelly it is great news but doesn't guarantee anything in modern-football - but it would give positivity to the Hoops faithful.
That's the message from one former Celtic star on Reo Hatate. Ange Postecoglou brought the midfielder to the club during his time in Glasgow and after making the move to the English Premier League with Tottenham, the rumour mill over a potential reunion went into overdrive. But that never materialised with the Japan star left out of Brendan Rodgers' first two starting line-ups this season before coming on against Aberdeen to make a notable change only to be forced off with injury.

He knows a new contract doesn't guarantee anything in the modern game but knows it would net his former club a much larger fee for a key man in their side.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, he said: “There's been talk of a new contract. He came back, he was injured and whether Ange leaving had an effect on him we don’t know, we can only speculate looking from the outside. But he’s got himself back. He is getting fitter, he’s getting stronger as I said there, there is no doubt in my mind Celtic are a better team with Reo Hatate in the midfield.
