We chat with DungeonsAndDragonsMovie star regejean about playing DnD with the cast, the expansive world of the game and film, and which magical item he'd take home with him:
Tapping into the chaotic action and comedy of Dungeons & Dragons, the new fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves features a crew of unlikely misfits who set out on an epic quest. A charming thief, with a personal stake in the heist, leads the group of ragtag adventurers on the hunt for an ancient relic. However, the quest becomes even more dangerous and complicated when the party makes enemies with powerful magic users.
Regé-Jean Page spoke with Screen Rant about playing a Paladin in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Page revealed that the cast played a game of Dungeons & Dragons as their characters to find their dynamic before filming. He also shared which magical item he would want in real life and the endless possibilities of the expansive Dungeons & Dragons world.
We got to try out the characters in a game setting. It was wild. I'll tell you that much. It was chaotic. Folks are very, very quick and improvisational on this cast, and it's essentially an improv game, and so everyone's playing "Yes, and..." And so you think of the wildest, craziest thing you can do, and then you have the privilege of having Chris Pine sit next to you, and he'll take that and run with it and blow it up and make it crazier.
Regé-Jean Page: It's always a mixture of everything. I think sometimes actors lean a little too heavily on how much research they've done. They want to show you their workings to distract you what's on the screen. It's a little bit of everything. You do a bunch of reading, you do a bunch of trying it out. That game really was a privilege to get to almost test drive what you think you understood from the material and from the reading.
