The Hornets have good memories of the last time this referee took charge of a game against the Royals watfordfc
Ismaila Sarr scored both goals when James Linington took charge of the Hornets' win against Reading in 2021.
James Linington has been appointed to take charge of Watford’s last game at Vicarage Road before the World Cup break when they face Reading tomorrow night. The Newport referee has officiated in 14 games so far this season, all bar one of which have been in the Championship, and has shown a total of 56 yellow cards and two reds.
Linington’s last Hornets fixture was, coincidentally, also against the Royals when an Ismaila Sarr brace sealed a 2-0 home victory in April 2021. He also refereed Watford’s 3-2 victory at Blackburn Rovers and the 1-1 draw against Brentford at Vicarage Road in the 2020/21 season. Jonathan Hunt and Rob Smith are due to be the assistant referees for tomorrow’s 8pm kick-off, with Josh Smith the fourth official.
