Jason Todd needs more friends.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Bat-Family is made up of several people who left their old life behind to join Batman. When Dick Grayson's parents were killed, he moved in with Batman and became Robin. Tim Drake decided to distance himself from his normal home life to become Robin. These characters still maintained elements of their old lives — except Red Hood.

Usually, in order to become a member of the Bat-Family, there is some great tragedy that a character has gone through. Normal people with normal lives don't usually sign up to fight crime with a billionaire who dresses up like a bat. When Jason Todd was recruited by Batman to fight crime as the new Robin, Jason was stealing the wheels off the Batmobile. At the time, Jason was a homeless kid living on the streets, doing whatever he could to survive.

Jason Todd Needs His Brother Max Back Jason's "brother" first appears in the digital-first chapter Truth & Justice #10 by Jeff Trammell, Rob Guillory, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, and Becca Carey. This story focuses on Red Hood's time as a homeless kid. But he isn't alone in this version of his past; one of the people who helps young Jason is Max Dawkins, an older kid who once took care of Jason like a brother. Together, the two survive their childhood.

Almost every member of the Bat-Family still has a powerful connection to their past life. Dick has had old family members reappear, like his uncle and sister — plus he owns the circus he grew up in. Barbara Gordon still has her father, and Cass Cain, for better or worse, still has her mother and father. Damian Wayne has his father, mother, and grandfather. But Jason Todd has no connection to his past life at all.

Red Hood's Character Potential Was Murdered Along with Max Every other Bat-Family member, including Batman, has both a connection to their past and a civilian life with supporting characters. Jason has neither; rarely is he shown in his civilian life, and he has no supporting cast that isn't a fellow superhero. There is no doubt that, out of all the Bat-Family members, Jason is the one who has struggled the most to find his footing outside the team.
