Roenick says what makes Stamkos special as a scorer is that he’s a “multi-dimensionally dangerous.” He can score off his trademark one-timer, but he can also go to the net and can create chances for himself.
There are several members of the 500-goal club who believe reaching that number will be tougher as years go on. “Over time, you might say that 400 will be the new 500 in a few years,” Modano says. “It might be more meaningful as time goes on to get 500. Guys defend too well. Teams do so much research on the power play and penalty kill, and goalies are too good.
Projecting one year into the future is hard enough. Projecting a player’s career? It’s a fool’s errand.
