Tributes are pouring in from the entertainment world following the death of Migos rapper Takeoff early Tuesday outside a bowling alley in Houston.
, where the private event was being held, Sgt. Michael Arrington told reporters. He said multiple shell casings were found on the third level of the building, where the bowling alley is located. Officers discovered one man dead when they arrived. Two others also were wounded and they were taken to hospitals in private vehicles, police said.
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirsnick Khari Ball, was part of the famed Atlanta rap group, along with Quavo and Offset. He was 28. As news of Takeoff's death circulated Tuesday morning, many took to social media to pay their respects to the late rapper, who had previously proclaimed himself the most underrated and most hated of the popular trio. Others took the tragedy as an opportunity to call for an end to increased gun-related shootings within the hip-hop culture.
Even Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner addressed Takeoff's death, posting on Twitter,"Too many young men of color are killing each other." Too many young men of color are killing each other. Resolving their disputes by pulling their guns and shooting one another regardless of fame or fortune. Crazy. And in a few second a life is gone, families and friends are left grieving. STOP! stOther politicians and fellow rappers, actors, athletes and more responded to the tragic news.— Jamaal Bowman Ed.D
