Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Smith posted a positive update to social media Tuesday morning following a scary on-field incident in Monday night’s loss to...
Smith took an 89-mph sinker from Danny Coulombe in the bottom of the third inning. He fell to the ground and was helped up by the Rangers’ medical staff and escorted into the clubhouse soon after. Smith walked away under his own power before being taken to an area hospital.

I’m doing fine & will hopefully be back on the field soon. 🙏🏼Smith said he cleared immediate concussion protocols Monday, but that’s something that will continue to be monitored. He had no vision issues and lost no teeth. ”After I got hit and got back to the clubhouse, the shock kind of hit me and I started crying thinking I was going to be out for a while and dealing with a fracture,” Smith said. “I definitely thought it would be a lot worse. It’s kind of the best outcome possible.”
Smith said it also was not the first time he’d been hit in the face with a pitch. He was also hit by a pitch his junior year at LSU in a game against Southeastern Louisiana.Smith, 25, hit .250 with three runs scored in the Rangers’ first three games. Originally
