Feast on all-you-can-eat housemade sausages, pretzels and sides for $35 from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 and drink a $6 Oktoberfest beer in a complementary stein. You can also show off your strength in a stein-holding competition.The zoo opens to adults only from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 16 for a bash featuring a performance by German band Die Musikmeisters, a DJ playing pop and party hits, lawn games and a stein-holding contest. Vendors will be selling beer, giant pretzels, schnitzel and bratwurst.
Specials offered Sept. 16 through Oct. 3 include soft pretzel twists with cheddar cheese sauce and spicy mustard , wood-grilled smoked bacon cheddar brats topped with German mustard and 3 Floyds Brewing Munsterfest drafts .The Logan Square bar’s Oktoberfest Beer n’ BBQ Festival features smoked chicken, pulled pork, bratwurst and sides and more than 10 German beers on tap from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 30, with beer tastings from local breweries until 2:30 p.m.
Festivities kick off at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 with eight Oktoberfest beers from breweries including Hofbräu München, 3 Floyds Brewing and Old Irving Brewing served in full and half-liter steins . You can also get a taste of Germany with a glass of smoked beer or apple wine and a beer brat dinner served with sauteed cabbage, crispy bacon and roasted potatoes. The food special is offered until Oct. 8 while rotating Oktoberfest brews will be on draft through Oct. 31.
