Since 2016, gamers have been impatiently waiting for the Radeon Graphics side of the AMD house to catch up to the leaps in performance and efficiency achieved with Ryzen. Think about it: in the 3 years since Ryzen launched , AMD has done what many considered impossible by constantly challenging Intel’s dominance and chewing away its market share.
On that note, during a call with Radeon RX 5700 Product Manager Mithun Chandrasekha this week, he openly admitted that Vega simply couldn’t excel at both compute and gaming. We saw proof of that with earlier releases like the Vega 56/64. AMD was simply trying to accomplish too much with the architecture.Enough of the past, though, because the competitive landscape changes today, and Nvidia’s dominance at the mid-to-high range of the stack is over for now.
