Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has attended a ceremony marking the accession of King Charles III to the throne. The event is a two-step process full of pomp and ceremony, concluding with the Chief Herald – wearing a distinctive tabard – standing outside and reading the proclamation as the gun salutes punctuate his words.

Former Foreign Minister John Baird is in favour of the monarchy, but tells us the new King has some big shoes to fill.
