New photo of Queen Elizabeth's first Christmas at Sandringham royal estate in Norfolk from 1952 revealed
For a lot of people, the Queen's speech is as much part of their Christmas tradition as the food and presents are.
The Queen sat at the same desk and chair that her grandfather, King George V, used when he made the very first Christmas broadcast in 1932 from Sandringham as she spoke during a live radio transmission for her first ever Christmas speech. She said: “Wherever you are, either at home or away, in snow or in sunshine, I give you my affectionate greetings, with every good wish for Christmas and the New Year.”
