Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday he talked Russian President Vladimir Putin down from his threat to 'wipe out' Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., says ‘the cracks in Putin’s dictatorship’ could ‘risk U.S. interests’ because of their nuclear arsenal on ‘Fox News Tonight.’not to"wipe out" Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin during Saturday's short-lived rebellion, which Putin had called"treason."
Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin left the Southern Military District headquarters on June 24, 2023 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Prigozhin is now reported to be in Belarus. The Kremlin did not issue an immediate response to Lukashenko's remarks, which shed light on what was purportedly discussed within Putin's regime as Prigozhin's forces advanced toward Moscow. Before Prigozhin called off his armed rebellion, it was seen as the most significant challenge to Putin's rule in more than 20 years.
The Belarusian president also boasted that Wagner group fighters will be an asset to his own military now that they have taken up residence in Belarus.
