As the buzz around the film continued to build, things reached a head on January 24. That's when the 2023 Academy Award nominations were announced and the film landed in contention for Best Animated Feature. That piqued the growing interest in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish even more, and the fact that it was still in first-run theaters allowed it to take full advantage of that buzz.
