Wetherspoon pubs will be offering money off all food and drinks for one day only next week.Watford's The Moon Under Water and The Pennsylvanian in Rickmansworth will be participating to mark Tax Equality Day, which is an annual event in Wetherspoon pubs nationwide.
The 7.5 per cent cut is to highlight the importance of a permanent VAT reduction for the hospitality industry, the pub chain says.The Moon Under Water manager, Kwame Tefe, said:"Customers coming to The Moon Under Water on Thursday September 14 will find the price of their food and drink is lower than normal.
"Pubs have been under fantastic pressure for decades due to the tax disadvantages it has with supermarkets. The tax benefit allows supermarkets to subsidise the selling price of beer.” This reduction is only happening for one day, with savings on all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as food.
