The province’s transfer includes funding towards Saskatoon’s crime reduction team, the Police and Crisis Teams, the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation team, a serious violent offender program, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan , and a Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team.In an emailed statement, Saskatoon police Chief Troy Cooper says the agreement covers new — provincially funded — positions announced in 2022.

In addition to funding for named police programs, there is funding included for “enhanced community policing” and “enhanced investigative policing” which is more flexible and not tied to a specific named program. Saskatoon police are also receiving funding towards the missing person task force to investigate new and historic missing persons cases.

The province has approved funding agreements for other municipal police services, including the Prince Albert Police Service.
