The proposed Shrewsbury Health and Wellbeing Hub was subject of a heated discussion.

Protestors were out in force as health bosses faced a grilling over controversial plans to move six Shrewsbury GP surgeries into a £60 million "super hub".Protesters last night, Anna Bramall, Euryl Stevens, Jackie Sanderson, Caroline and Nick Bucknall

One protestor, Euryl Stevens - a patient of the South Hermitage surgery for 40 years - said she thought the hub idea was"dreadful". She said:"My husband died last year. I don't know how we'd have got to his appointments if we lost the surgery." The plans, which would affect 45,000 patients, would involve closing surgeries at their current location and moving them to a new hub. The surgeries affected are Claremont Bank, Marysville, South Hermitage, Marden, The Beeches and Belvidere. They range between 2.6 miles and 0.8 miles from the favoured site, in Oteley Road near Shrewsbury Town FC’s stadium.

Several questions over transport to the hub were submitted by members of the public, but no concrete answers were given - only Shropshire Council's director of public health Rachel Robinson reiterating that the authority will not be paying for transport services to the health hub. Dr Charlotte Hart, clinical lead for the proposal said she wanted to make it clear that"this is not a done deal" and it is still"just a proposal". She said she wanted to protect GP provision in the area but"we need to make some changes to do that".

Intersectionality and the invisibility of transgender health in the Philippines - Global Health Research and PolicyIntersectionality and the invisibility of transgender health in the Philippines - Global Health Research and PolicyTransgender (trans) Filipinos are disproportionately vulnerable to health problems because of the inaccessibility of essential healthcare services resulting from the invisibility and exclusion of trans health in Philippine health and related social institutions. Because of the institutional prejudice and discrimination against trans Filipinos in Philippine society, an intersectional approach presents an opportunity to analyze the invisibility and potentially elucidate the unique health needs of trans Filipinos. This article elucidates how the invisibility of trans Filipinos in health is a product of co-existing and interacting prejudiced and discriminatory institutions, such as the law, education, and medicine, where the historical experiences of colonization, the hegemony of cisgenderism, and the impact of capitalism remain salient. By elucidating these co-existing and interacting structures and forces, this article highlights the gaps in the Philippine healthcare system, such as the lack of affirming and protective policies for trans health and the limited cultural competence of healthcare providers. In light of these, future research and policy work must work towards integrating gender-specific and gender-inclusive approaches, centering the voices of trans Filipinos in health discourses, and decolonizing and expanding the local understanding of trans health among Filipinos.
